Medical Day Centre expansion and refurbishment

With your help, we've raised the £4 million required to expand the Medical Day Centre at our Chelsea Hospital. This will allow us to give a better standard of care to more outpatients in a more spacious and relaxing environment.

Recent advances in chemotherapy treatments mean they are less toxic than before. Many people undergoing chemotherapy can now be treated as outpatients, which means that they can return to the comfort of their own beds at night.

This is good news, but it means extra pressure on our Medical Day Centre. We're seeing 25% more patients than ever before, and the space we've got simply can't accommodate everything we need.

The money raised for the Medical Day Centre will allow us to:

• see more patients
• install state-of-the-art reclining treatment chairs (some patients can spend as long as eight hours in a chair receiving treatment, so comfort is vital)
• introduce a fast-track area for speedier treatments, such as Herceptin infusions
• provide new consulting rooms.

These improvements will make a huge difference to the patients treated at the Centre.
