It also enables our consultants to make treatments more precise, allowing them to prescribe just the right amount – neither too little nor too much – chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy.
Its success has resulted in a national NHS strategy to introduce PET/CT scanners to hospitals across the UK.
The scanner allows more accurate diagnosis, aiding precise treatment planning and allowing optimal treatment to be tailored for each individual patient.
