This incredible piece of equipment allows us to diagnose cancer more quickly and accurately than ever before and can help us avoid unnecessary surgery. It also enables our consultants to make treatments more precise, prescribing the right amount - not too little or too much - chemo and/or radiotherapies. Its success had resulted in a national NHS strategy to introduce PET/CT scanners to hospitals across the UK.
The scanner allows more accurate diagnosis, aiding precise treatment planning and allowing optimal treatment to be tailored for each individual patient
