Chipstead golfers boost Royal Marsden funds

Back in September 2008, 70 steadfast Chipstead golfers faced blustery, wet weather at their annual charity day. The day was in aid of the Woolfson Unit for children at The Royal Marsden Hospital.

A few weeks later, Club Captain Paul Dimmock invited Tony Hazeldine from the hospital to collect a cheque for the £2,909 raised by the members.

Tony Hazeldine said: “The comfort and nursing of children is important work for us at the Royal Marsden. We are aiming to raise £15 million for a new modern children’s unit at the hospital.

"It is a sad fact that more youngsters are getting cancer but our success rate, thanks to the fundraising, is increasing. Chipstead Golf Club is a regular supporter of the charity and we are very grateful as these amounts soon add up.”
