Continuing physical problems

Women have varying experiences of lingering problems depending on the type of cancer treatment they had, their age, their prior physical fitness and a host of other factors.

The most common physical problems are fatigue, menopausal symptoms, and sleep disturbance. Here are some tips to help you to cope:

  • Don’t try to do too much too soon
  • Gradually increasing your level of physical activity will help with fatigue
  • Break tasks up into smaller chunks of time so that you don’t overdo things
  • Menopausal symptoms may be manageable – talk to your cancer doctor or GP
  • If your sleep has not returned to a normal pattern after a few weeks, some professional help may be needed. Talk to your doctor about your sleep problems.
