As a teaching hospital, The Royal Marsden is committed to passing on its knowledge and sharing the latest developments in cancer care. As part of this commitment we organise a series of seminars for general practitioners here at the hospital.

Key speakers at the seminar were:

Previous Seminar
Prostate cancer - demystifying the treatment options
This seminar was held on 19 September 2007 and was hosted by the
Urology Unit.
Prostate cancer is now the most commonly diagnosed malignancy in men in the UK and is responsible for 23% of all male cancers. The introduction of PSA testing has led to an increasing proportion of patients presenting with localised disease.
The Royal Marsden's Urology unit is one of two National Centres of Excellence for prostate cancer research and is recognised nationally and internationally for setting standards in prostate care. Recently we have expanded our urological diagnostic and treatment services in a number of ways including investing in state-of-the-art robotic equipment and strengthening the existing team with new appointments.
Key members of the team and their specialist subjects include:
- Mr Chris Ogden, Consultant Surgeon, a pioneer in robotics
- Dr Vincent Khoo, Consultant in Clinical Oncology, an authority in radiation therapy
- Dr Nicholas van As, Clinical Research Fellow, an expert on active surveillance.
