Election to the Membership Council

The Carer Councillor election, which closed at 5pm on Tuesday 27 July 2010, resulted in John Howard being elected to the position.

The election was conducted using the single transferable vote electoral system.

About the Membership Council


The Membership Council plays an important role in the governance of the Trust. Through the four Membership Council meetings held a year, Councillors:

  • hear about the work of the hospital
  • provide feedback and advice on the strategic direction of the organisation from their constituents’ perspective
  • formally sign off on the annual report and accounts.


Election timeline


All nomination papers had to be received by the Returning Officer, Christy Gerould, at the address below, by 5pm on Thursday 17 June 2010.

The deadline for a nominee wishing to withdraw their nomination was 5pm on Tuesday 22 June 2010.

Ballot papers were distributed to qualifying members on Wednesday 7 July 2010.

The deadline for completed ballot papers to be received by the Independent Scrutineer was 5pm on Tuesday 27 July 2010.
