What members and Councillors do
|

Our members play a vital role within The Royal Marsden. They have a real voice in how the Trust is run and how it will grow and develop in the future. They represent the different groups of people who are accountable to and through their elected Councillors, they have the opportunity to help us shape our strategies.
Membership does not cost a penny and, whilst it is an important role, it is not time consuming. We will provide you with regular updates on the work of the Trust and recent developments via our newsletter and this website. If you wish to, you can find out more by attending our AGM, Members' Events and Membership Council meetings.
What do members do?
Members help to shape our strategies by voting for their Councillor and feeding back to them on the Trust's work and future plans so that the views of patients, carers and members of the public are taken into account.
Our members support the work of the Trust by:
- contributing to, supporting and influencing the work of The Royal Marsden as a leading cancer centre in research, treatment and education
- participating in the local ownership and accountability of the Trust
- receiving information about the hospital throughout the year
- being consulted on and feeding into the activities of the Membership Council
- voting in elections for the Membership Council
- attending meetings of the Membership Council
- standing for election to the Membership Council.
What do Councillors do?
We also welcome members who want to become more involved by standing for election as a Councillor and representing your fellow members' views at the Membership Council Meeting.
