The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust is committed to ensuring robust systems are in place to safeguard the welfare of children. We work in partnership with other agencies and organisations to provide safe care and proactively identify children who are at risk.
Some of the measures we have in place include:
- Criminal Record Bureau checks for staff in accordance with statutory employment regulations.
- Child protection policies and systems which work in partnership with our key local stakeholders and are systematically reviewed to ensure they meet national guidance and recommendations.
- Processes to follow up missed outpatient appointments, including flagging up specific concerns about the safety and welfare of vulnerable children.
- Child protection training for staff in line with national guidance.
- Named professionals with clear roles and responsibilities for supporting the safeguarding agenda. This resource has recently been reviewed and increased in agreement with the board.
- Board level executive leadership for safeguarding, provided by the Chief Nurse.
An audit programme is in place to provide assurance around safeguarding training, and reports are regularly reviewed within the Trust's governance committee structures.
