Join our dare devil cadets and help make childhood cancers a thing of the past
The story to far...
At the Royal Marsden, we specialise in treating people with cancer - 40,000 of them a year in fact. As some of our patients are smaller then others we've a children's unit called 'The Wolfson Children and Adolescent Unit' for our younger patients. It's a very special place and one of the largest children's unit in the UK seeing more then 200 young patients and families a year.
Today 1 in 650 children develop cancer but thanks to places like 'The Wolfson Children and Adolescent Unit' ¾ of them are cured and go on to become wrinkly old grown-ups.
The big task!
Our task is to raise ½ a million pounds a year to keep improving with the latest technology, research and treatments.
That's why we're calling on...
Captain Chemo and you to help us do just that. Captain Chemo and his Chemo command have a dual mission - to help you learn more about childhood cancers and its treatment but also to join you in your fundraising to help us raise the money which our Royal Marsden team needs.
The Adventures of Captain Chemo were created by Benjamin de Garis who died in July 1998 aged 18, having had treatment at The Royal Marsden Hospital since he was 13. Visit the website to learn more about cancer and its treatment. Most importantly assist the Captain and his Chemo Command on their quest to manoeuvre the chemo craft to shoot and destroy tumours and bacteria.
