Fundraising tips

My Marsden Marchers

Make your My Marsden March event a successful fundraiser for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity using JustGiving and Facebook.

Create your JustGiving page

JustGiving has a range of tools to help you, including email contact integration, a Facebook app and an iPhone app. You’ll be guided through using these as you set up your page.

  • You can choose whether to have one standard page for everyone in your team, or a team page which has more features. A standard page has one running total and everyone in your team uses the same page.
  • A team page has one fundraising page for each team member with their own target, but all of the pages contribute to a central team page with a combined total. This allows team members to set their own targets and integrate with their own contacts and social media accounts.

  • Remember to promote your JustGiving page through social media, email and at work. You could also contact your local press and display posters in local businesses. Encourage your friends, family and community to spread the word.

Make the most of Facebook

As well as sharing your progress on Facebook, you could create a Facebook event by following these simple steps:

  • Create a public Facebook event with a photo, description and link to your JustGiving page.
  • Make every team member an admin so that you can all update the page. You’ll also have a wider group of people to invite.
  • Invite friends and family to the event to cheer you on or simply keep up to date with what you’re doing.
  • Post occasional updates so that everyone knows how you’re doing.
