Ralph Lauren himself has long been recognised for his early leadership in the fight against cancer. More than 20 years ago, after a close friend was diagnosed with breast cancer, he made a commitment to focus his philanthropic efforts on eradicating the disease.
In 2000, he led Ralph Lauren Corporation in the launch of the Pink Pony campaign, and international initiative to reduce disparities in cancer care and ensure treatment at an earlier, more curable stage.
In 2014, Ralph Lauren Corporation and The Royal Marsden came together to extend Mr Lauren’s work in the UK. At a gala dinner to celebrate the pioneering work of The Royal Marsden at Windsor Castle, he announced the creation of The Ralph Lauren Centre for Breast Cancer Research at The Royal Marsden.
This world-class research facility opened in Spring 2016, and is dedicated to advancing breast cancer research, improving early diagnosis and developing new treatments.
