Our use of Fundraise Up and transaction fees
We’re incredibly grateful for the generosity of all our donors and want to be transparent about how online donations made through royalmarsden.org are processed.
We use Fundraise Up, a secure online donation platform that helps us provide a simple, safe and user-friendly way to give. It’s designed to make donating quick and seamless, so more people can complete their gift with confidence and ultimately raise more for The Royal Marsden.
A breakdown of the fees on Fundraise Up
Each online donation incurs transaction costs to us. These costs are broken down into two essential elements:
- Payment processing fees — This is the standard charge applied by banks and card providers to handle secure transactions. This is typically Stripe: 1.2% plus £0.20 per transaction.
- The Fundraise Up platform service fee — This is the cost of using the donation platform itself, which provides the technology and tools that make our online giving possible. The fee for us to use Fundraise Up is 4% per transaction.
Together, these fees make up the optional transaction costs that appear when you complete a donation online. Many donors choose to cover these optional fees for us so that 100% of their intended gift amount goes directly to supporting our work. Covering these fees is entirely optional, and we’re deeply grateful for every contribution, with or without the fee covered.
We appreciate for supporters making larger donations the fees shown can be significant. For those who would like to make a large donation to us, there are a few ways we can support you to process your donation that incur lower fees to us.
Donation by phone.
By completing your donation by phone, we can process your transaction and only incur the payment processing fees for your bank or card provider. Please get in touch by calling 020 7808 2233.
Donation by bank transfer
If you'd like to pay in your fundraising by bank transfer, please get in touch by calling us on 020 7808 2233. Or you can email a member of our team at charity@royalmarsden.org for more details.
CAF
To make a payment via CAF, simply click the donation link and search for our charity name or registration number in the CAF directory. Choose the amount, complete your payment details.
Cheque
To make a donation by post, please make any cheques payable to ‘The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity' and send to:
