Our partnership with Nationwide Building Society
1 in 2 of us in the UK will be diagnosed with cancer in our lifetime. The need for more breakthroughs in cancer treatment is greater than ever before. Nationwide Fairer Futures aims to help some of the biggest issues in society, providing vital and accessible support across the country. Together, we'll accelerate breakthroughs in research, treatment and care for cancer patients. Working in partnership, we have the potential to make a significant and lasting difference to people with cancer, everywhere, for generations to come.
Funding specialists to accelerate cancer research breakthroughs
Our partnership with Nationwide is funding 30 specialist research staff at The Royal Marsden over the next two years. Working across 100 clinical trials, the partnership supports specialist staff to develop more effective, personalised treatment for people with cancer.

Cancer education for Nationwide colleagues
The partnership is also supporting colleagues at Nationwide to gain a better understanding of cancer. By working with experts from The Royal Marsden School, colleagues will gain a deeper understanding of the cancer journey – from screening and diagnosis, to treatment and ongoing care, helping to ensure Nationwide customers affected by cancer are supported in the best possible way.

“Nationwide’s support will help us to deliver advances for patients sooner.”
Improvements for generations to come
This partnership will support experts as they accelerate breakthroughs in research and continue providing patients with world-leading treatment and care.
Working in partnership with Nationwide offers the chance to make significant and long-lasting improvements to the lives of people with cancer and their loved ones for generations to come.
“We are thrilled by the support from Nationwide to help us realise our ambitious plans in the coming years," says Professor Nicholas Turner, Director of Clinical Research at The Royal Marsden. "From developing new therapies and surgical technologies, to finding new ways to minimise side effects and speed up recovery, there is a huge amount of potential across our research portfolio. Nationwide’s support will help us to deliver these advances for patients sooner.”
