Barclays executives appointed to our Corporate Partnerships Board

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity appoints new Chair and Vice Chair of the Corporate Partnerships Board.

C.S. Venkatakrishnan (known as Venkat), Barclays’ Group Chief Executive, and Sasha Wiggins, Barclays’ Group Head of Public Policy and Corporate Responsibility have been appointed as Chair and Vice Chair of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity’s Corporate Partnerships Board.

Venkat and Sasha will both bring extensive experience to their new roles, which support the work of our world-leading cancer centre, The Royal Marsden.

About Venkat and Sasha

Venkat, who joined Barclays in 2016, was appointed Group Chief Executive in 2021. He is a highly regarded global business leader with significant banking and financial services experience. Prior to joining Barclays, he spent 22 years in various senior roles at JP Morgan Chase.

Venkat is also a Board Member of the Institute of International Finance, a member of the UN Environment Programme Finance Initiative Leadership Council, and an Advisory member to the Board of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Golub Centre for Finance and Policy.

As Group Head of Public Policy and Corporate Responsibility, Sasha has been leading a multi-disciplined team since 2020 that supports the delivery of Barclays’ strategy, focused on helping Barclays act responsibly for the common good and the long term. She oversaw Barclays’ COVID-19 Community Aid Package which has committed £100m to support communities worldwide.

Sasha is also Barclays’ Group Chief of Staff and has held a number of senior business leadership roles across the bank since joining in 2002.

Sasha said: “The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity plays an important role in driving forward the world-leading cancer care and research that The Royal Marsden is world renowned for. I am delighted to be working with the Charity to help continue this work, ensuring that the hospital achieves the very best outcomes for cancer patients.”
