Ana ran the 2026 London Marathon as a way of saying thank you to The Royal Marsden for everything the hospital has done for her. Ana was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in November 2024 and following her treatment, she is now in remission.
"12 days prior I had been told my scans came back and there was no cancer, so the London Marathon was my victory lap! Running it less than a year from radiation will always be one of the best moments of my life - getting to raise money to help more people get access to life saving treatment and ensuring more people have the success story that I have.
It is a mammoth challenge but you are not doing this alone, you have so many people backing you up and all your fundraising will help thousands of people around the world. I had never had so many people shouting my name and encouraging me as if they were my closest friend.
It was the biggest party I have ever been to and you had the best version of everyone, from the runners to the marshals to the spectators. I feel eternally grateful that I got to experience this feeling which really is like no other; a moment that will live forever in my heart."
