We are thrilled to announce that the hospital has exciting plans to transform its historic Chelsea home, and The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity will raise funds to help create this state-of-the-art facility.
The development will expand the hospital’s capacity to treat more patients in the future and accelerate research breakthroughs in how we diagnose and treat cancer so more patients around the world can benefit. The hospital has a long history of finding new and better ways to diagnose and treat cancer and this transformational development will ensure it can offer hope to even more cancer patients for generations to come.
The hospital’s plans will bring together a clinical research centre, surgical facilities and patient treatment areas within a state-of-the-art environment where innovations can move more swiftly from the laboratory to the patient’s bedside.
Treatment and care at the hospital will continue throughout the construction.
We look forward to sharing more details with you in the future, but for now here is a glimpse of what this world-class development will deliver:
- Pioneering research breakthroughs – Delivering practice-changing approaches to treating cancer, enabling faster diagnosis and increasing the number of clinical trials the hospital can lead, to help develop more personalised and effective treatments.
- Modernised and increased clinical facilities – Enabling the hospital to develop new surgical techniques and treatments that improve survival and quality of life for cancer patients globally.
- Life-saving diagnostics for patients – Integrating advanced pathology, genetic testing and imaging with the latest digital technologies to diagnose cancer earlier and guide more personalised treatment plans for patients.
- Improved world-leading patient experience – Enabling facilities and state-of the-art technologies to be located within a modern building that works for patients and staff whilst respecting the rich heritage and history of our Chelsea site.
