HRH The Princess of Wales made a private visit to the Ever After Garden on Saturday 13 December.
We were delighted to welcome Her Royal Highness The Princess of Wales, to the Ever After Garden where 30,000 illuminated white roses light up the heart of Chelsea and where people can dedicate a rose in memory of a loved one. The Princess planted a dedication and met volunteers and staff who have worked to deliver the garden, to show her appreciation for their hard work and commitment.
Each festive season the Ever After Garden provides a tranquil haven where people can remember treasured friends and family, with all proceeds going to The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. We raise money for The Royal Marsden, where Her Royal Highness is Joint Patron with His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, and donations help to ensure our nurses, doctors, and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world.
Since its launch in 2019, the Ever After Garden has raised over £1.6 million and become a cherished space for people to remember their loved ones.
The garden was inspired by the late production designer Michael Howells, whose work included the film Ever After, after which the garden is named. After the loss of their friend, designer and Trustee of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity Dame Anya Hindmarch, and fashion writer Camilla Morton, wanted to find an inspiring way to remember those we have lost. Together, they created the Ever After Garden.
Antonia Dalmahoy, Managing Director of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity said:
“We are deeply honoured that Her Royal Highness, The Princess of Wales, Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden with His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, visited the Ever After Garden. The garden is incredibly special to so many who visit it each year and we were delighted to share its tranquillity and beauty with Her Royal Highness.
Since the garden first opened in 2019 it has raised more than £1.6 million for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, thanks to everyone who has dedicated a rose. The money funds groundbreaking research at The Royal Marsden, which saves the lives of cancer patients across the UK and around the world.
We would like to thank The Princess for her ongoing support of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and The Royal Marsden, as Joint Patron.”

The Princess became Joint Patron of The Royal Marsden following a visit to our Chelsea hospital in January 2025, together with His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales. The Prince of Wales, President of the hospital since 2007, has visited the hospital on many occasions to see first-hand the world leading work at The Royal Marsden and the difference it makes for cancer patients and their families across the world. His visits have included officially opening the Oak Cancer Centre, a state-of-the-art research and treatment facility, funded by The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, in 2023.
The Ever After Garden is open until 9pm, Tuesday 16 December, and you can make a dedication online until 01:00AM 16 December to have your marker placed in the garden that same day. Find out more and make your dedication now.
This year’s Ever After Garden is supported by Brookfield as Headline Partner, Nationwide Building Society as Supporting Partner through their social impact strategy Fairer Futures and by Cadogan as Location Partner.
