Hasna's story
Hasna, 51, was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006, shortly after giving birth to her second child. She underwent surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and hoped her cancer was behind her. But in 2016, she was told she had secondary breast cancer and that she might only have two years to live.
Hasna was then referred to The Royal Marsden, where she has taken part in five different clinical trials. Each trial has given her more time with her family and enabled doctors to learn more about how best to treat her type of cancer. When one treatment stopped working, there was always another option available, ensuring Hasna never lost hope. Now, thanks to the latest targeted immunotherapy trial she is on, her cancer has reduced by 50% and her disease is stable.
"Research is so important. Thanks to these trials, I've been able to become a grandmother."

Pioneering research at The Royal Marsden, supported by donations from people like you, has allowed Hasna to see her children grow up and reach milestones she thought she would miss.Your support can help more patients like Hasna benefit from groundbreaking research and life-saving trials.
