How to take part

Registration 

Sign up via Action Challenge and make sure to choose to take on your challenge in support of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Registration fees and minimum fundraising targets depend on the event, distance and funding option you choose. 

Fundraising 

You will have a dedicated member of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity team on hand to help you with advice and tips for fundraising. We will be there for you every step of the way! 

Get ready for your trip!

Our partners at Action Challenge will provide everything you need to help you get ready for your trek, including training plans and discounts for any new gear you might need to purchase.

Join us for your unforgettable adventure knowing you've raised vital funds that will transform the lives of cancer patients around the world.

Payment options

Each event offers three funding options so you can make sure the challenge is right for you:

  • Full sponsorship for charity – You'll pay a small registration fee and have a minimum fundraising target. We will pay for your event place.
  • Mixed funding for charity – You'll pay for half your place and have a smaller minimum fundraising target. We will pay for the other half of your event place.
  • Own place charity fundraising – You'll pay for your whole place so you won’t have a minimum fundraising target, we will just ask you to raise as much as you can.

South Coast Ultra Challenge

Date: 5-6 September 2026

Location: Eastbourne

Event type: Walk, Jog, Run

Distance: 25, 50, 100km

The South Downs National Park is a superb backdrop for adventurers to take on a real challenge. An Eastbourne start, up Beachy Head, the Seven Sisters and along the South Downs Way before finishing in Arundel.

Thames Moonlight Walk

Date: 11 September 2026

Location: The Oval

Event type: Walk, Jog, Run

Distance: 10, 16km

Fundraising target: £150

A fantastic evening walk through London, taking in famous landmarks including St Pauls, Westminster Abbey, Tower Bridge, the London Eye and more! Ideal to take on with friends, family or work colleagues and a great opportunity to see the capital at it’s best.

Thames Bridges Trek

Date: 12 September 2026

Location: London Thames

Event type: Walk, Jog, Run

Distance: 10, 25km

Setting out from Putney Bridge, it's east towards the city, zig-zagging over the array of historic bridges - each with its fascinating story. There will be a finish line celebration in Southwark, past the majestic Tower Bridge.

Chiltern 50 Ultra Challenge

Date: 26 September 2026

Location: Henley

This 50km looped route covers some of the best of the Chiltern countryside. Passing through nature reserves, forests, and a few hills with great views - it's a route with real variety, and some wonderful scenery - and it's all easily accessible from London.

Kent Downs 50 Ultra Challenge

Date: 10 October 2026

Location: Kent Downs

Join this wonderful trek in the ‘Garden of England,’ starting on the North Downs Way and following the river Medway. This picturesque event is a great way to finish off the ultra challenge season and features a show ground finish line celebration.

London Halloween Walk

Date: 31 October 2025

Location: The Oval, start and finish

Join this wicked 10k walk and horrific 25km Halloween hike. Starting and finishing in the Dungeon, deep in the Oval cricket ground, this event sees challengers don their favourite Halloween costume for a night of spooktacular fun. Take on highlights of London’s landmarks, some horror hot spots and a few nasty neighbourhoods.

London Winter Walk

Date: 24 or 25 January 2026

Location: The Oval, start and finish

Event type: Walk only

Distance: 5, 10km, Half or Full Marathon

Fundraising target: £75-300

Registration: £10-50

Start the new year on the right foot! This is a great event to walk off the Christmas and New Year celebrations. All distances start and finish at The Oval Cricket Ground, and take in highlights of the Thames, it’s historic bridges and many of the capital’s landmarks.
