Related Argent: Raising £445,000 to Build a Brighter Future in Early Diagnosis
Related Argent’s huge fundraising effort saw employees and partners take part in two events: the first, a gruelling 400km bike ride from London to Paris over three days in May and the second, a 21-mile walk from Lewes to Eastbourne in June.
The cycling team alone clocked up an average of close to 100 training hours per person in the months leading up to the bike ride, which challenged even the most seasoned cyclists. The walkers also had a tricky challenge with the hilly landscape of the South Downs.
The team from Related Argent were delighted to meet The Royal Marsden’s Professor Ros Eeles, Professor of Oncogenetics at The Institute of Cancer Research and Honorary Consultant in Clinical Oncology and Cancer Genetics at The Royal Marsden.
On their visit, they went to the Charles Wolfson Rapid Diagnostic Centre at the Oak Cancer Centre, to see first-hand the difference their funding will make. They handed over a cheque for £445,000 to Neal Donnelly, Associate Director of Philanthropy & Partnerships at The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
Early cancer diagnosis at the Oak Cancer Centre
The money raised through these events, including support from Related Argent’s generous clients, has funded a suite of state-of-the-art equipment at The Royal Marsden’s Charles Wolfson Rapid Diagnostic Centre – a diagnosis-focused floor of the new Charity-funded Oak Cancer Centre.
Diagnosing cancer earlier means patients can be treated with less invasive and difficult procedures and are significantly more likely to survive and undergo successful treatment. Increasing early diagnoses is a critical part of the future of cancer care – with the NHS driving for 75% of all cancers being diagnosed early by 2028 – the Charles Wolfson Rapid Diagnostic Centre is a huge part of this drive.
By helping to fund the latest technology, Related Argent will go on to help The Royal Marsden to: see more patients; speed up the time it takes for a diagnosis to be made; and help minimise the impact of these diagnoses on patients – ultimately saving more lives.
