Hospital trolley service volunteer

By donating your time, you’ll help us to support life-saving work at The Royal Marsden for people living with cancer. 

Our amazing volunteers served over 2,300 items to patients at The Royal Marsden last year! 

Thanks to our volunteers, we're raising awareness of the work we support at The Royal Marsden for patients at the hospital and beyond. 

 

About your role   

You’ll help us to provide a trolley service for patients at the hospital to make their stay more comfortable. We have a range of snacks and products for sale on the trolley in Sutton.

  • Be an ambassador for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity
  • Visit the hospital wards and engage with patients
  • Sell products and answer questions about what’s on sale
  • Cash handling (training will be provided)
  • Manual handling of the trolley (role performed as a pair with a partnered volunteer)
  • Record sales and restock the trolley
  • Work with our Community Fundraising team
  • Refer patients to relevant staff, if needed  

Your location  

This volunteering role is based only at The Royal Marsden in Sutton. 

Your time commitment

Please give an afternoon each week (2-5pm) for a minimum of three months. Please note, this role runs in the afternoon due to protected meal and rest times in the hospital. 

Our working hours run between 9am-5pm on Mondays-Fridays.

Next steps    

If your application is successful, you will be invited to an informal interview (either at the Sutton office or online via Microsoft Teams or Zoom). The interview will take place with a member of the Community Fundraising team.   
 
As part of the application process, you will need to confirm your right to volunteer in the UK. 

We will also need to carry out two reference checks and a DBS clearance.
